I attended Transylvania University in Lexington Kentucky for two years before transferring to the University of Louisville School of Business majoring in Business Administration.
I worked in my Dad’s supermarket business until 1978 when I started my own business. I eventually developed a twenty-store chain of convenience food and gas stores called Short Stop Food Marts. I am active in statewide affairs for the Kentucky Grocers Association as a current board member and having served as Board Chairman.
I married my high school sweetheart, the former Pam McCardwell (Class of ’64). We have three sons, Jeff (JP), Matt, and Jason; three daughters-in-law and ten grandchildren.
I am now semi-retired since Matt decided to stay with the family business. Pam and I enjoy traveling and vacationing in Destin, Florida and Vail, Colorado and attending U of L football and basketball games. We are active members of Southeast Christian Church under the watchful eye of Don Waddell. My special interests include Downhill Skiing and Model Railroading.
